The Heart and Voice Behind CedarPath Therapy

Meet Jason

Jason Stauffer, M.S.Ed., BCBA, is the founder of CedarPath Therapy and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a background in special education, early intervention, and behavioral health services from toddlers to young adults.

Jason earned his Master of Science in Education, specializing in Early Childhood and Special Education, from Hunter College in 2012. He began his career as a classroom teacher, where his experiences supporting children with diverse learning needs sparked a growing interest in understanding why people learn and behave as they do—and how changes in teaching and environment can help them thrive.

In 2016, Jason transitioned into early intervention while completing specialized coursework and supervised training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). He became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2018 and has since provided behavioral services to toddlers, children, adolescents, and young adults across a broad range of support needs, working closely with families, educators, and other members of their care teams.

Alongside his direct clinical work, Jason has extensive experience supervising behavioral services, supporting clinical teams, and mentoring developing behavior analysts. He has provided formal supervision to candidates pursuing BCBA certification, with his professional work spanning both direct intervention and clinical supervision.

Why This Work Matters

The science drew me in. The people keep me here.

“I became fascinated by the science of human behavior when I began to see what understanding behavior and its relationship to a person’s environment could make possible—not only for individuals, but for families, schools, and communities.

What has kept me passionate about this work is much more personal: seeing the impact that thoughtful, well-designed supports and authentic relationships can make in someone's everyday life. I continue to be inspired by the individuals I work with and by the parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals who bring their own knowledge, commitment, and care to the table.

For me, the best work happens when we bring those perspectives together—combining behavioral science with a deep understanding of the person and the life they wish to live.”

The Road to CedarPath

Japan has been an important part of Jason's life since he first lived here as an English language teacher before entering graduate school. Years later, while beginning his own training in behavior analysis, someone close to him was navigating an autism diagnosis for his young child in Japan. Jason saw firsthand how overwhelming that experience could be when families had limited access to high-quality information and specialized behavioral support.

At the time, he was only beginning his own professional training and remembers the frustration of wanting to help while knowing he did not yet have the needed expertise and competency. That experience stayed with him. Over the years that followed, returning to Japan as an experienced behavior analyst became both a personal and professional goal.

CedarPath Therapy grew from that goal: to contribute high-quality behavioral health services in Japan while helping make behavioral science practical, accessible, and useful to the individuals, families, educators, and communities it is meant to serve.
